- That's about time, it's already a quarter past nine.

The start of a new year at Sint-Lucas is always very exciting; will I still be inspired? Will new ideas grow?

Where do I want to go? 

This morning I decided that whoever wants to make soup from scratch, first has to grow vegetables and go into the forest to pick herbs. It's crazy to think you can go straight to the marmite if you don't have any ingrediënts. Starting a new big project in clay (or whatever material) for me is not so different. These small bas-reliefs are the first items for my broth and the first months I will do nothing else then this; searching for form with my hands and intuïtion, seeing how it grows on the table, find interesting new textures, creating new skins to finally mix, weigh and match. In other words to start my big projects with black (or green), skilled and trustworthy hands.

And, yes, it will take time and patience and sometimes I will think my actions are a waste of time... but those are only luxury problems.

CLASH: 10 september t/m 12 oktober 2011

Opening: zaterdag 10 september 16 - 18 uur

In Clash mogen de dingen botsen. Galerie De Witte Voet brengt werk bijeen van Sint-Lucas Beeldende Kunst studenten en alumni dat duidelijk van elkaar verschilt. Clash toont zowel keramische objecten die in een perfecte mal zijn gegoten als kleisculpturen waarin vormen organisch woekeren. Ze geven het spanningsveld aan waarbinnen artistieke ideeën vorm krijgen. De tegenstellingen zorgen voor kritische ruimte en worden niet afgezwakt of weggewerkt. Meer zelfs: de confrontatie of frictie ontstaat niet enkel tussen de werken onderling maar is ook aanwezig in de werken zelf.
